GE
dishwashers have been disasters for at least ten years. How is it that GE
can produce complicated diagnostic medical equipment, engines for military and
commercial aircraft (which have their own defect history), and nuclear power
plants, all the while running a world-wide media conglomerate, but they can't
make a decent dishwasher? These relatively simple modern conveniences we
(should be able to) take for granted have been and continue to be the cause of:
- numerous recalls
- house fires caused by defective switches
- flooding of homes due to valve leaks
- wheels on the baskets that have to be replaced on a regular basis
- and slow, insidious leaks that go undetected until the homeowner
discovers damage to floors and sub flooring sometimes resulting in rot and
mold.
The following links depict life with a GE dishwasher and what you might
expect if you already own one.
Underwriters Laboratories
More Help
"UL is the trusted source across the globe for product compliance.
Benefiting a range of customers from manufacturers and retailers to consumers
and regulating bodies - weve tested products for public safety for more than a
century."
It would be very helpful (to everyone) if you complete a consumer product
report form on the Underwriters Laboratories' website. UL takes its label
of approval very seriously and they investigate every complaint. The form
is easy and quick to complete. We encourage everyone to notify UL if you
have an appliance that exhibits a defect that is dangerous.
