Exploding Oven Doors

This oven's exterior door glass exploded. Debris flew with force to all corners of the room.

Once the glass shards cooled, the owner was able to sweep the thousands of pieces into a pile.

Note the Easter ham is still in the oven!

This is an oven whose interior glass door shattered.

The tempered glass did not just collapse into itself as Underwriters Laboratories maintains it usually does.

This is a brand new oven (model JBP68SOK3SS) delivered in August 2006. 40 days later - while baking a cake - the homeowner heard an explosion.

When she opened the oven door, the glass came shooting out.

The two interior panes of glass had shattered, spraying glass throughout the oven cavity.

She was grateful that her 2 year old niece and 2 dogs were not near the oven when she opened the door.

Combination convection/microwave oven Model JEB1095BB002 manufactured in 2003.

This unit was installed in the hospital 'Guest House' serving cancer patients and their families who travel for treatment.

While a guest was heating food, the glass shattered for no apparent reason. [The Facility Coordinator ruled out misuse.]

When he investigated, "I found the glass on the ground still popping and jumping."

 

Model JBP30BOB5WH manufactured in 2003. At 7:30 am the owner woke to the sound of shattering glass. The door had exploded spraying shards across the -

kitchen floor still popping and cracking. The oven had not been used in more than a week!
